Green Man Pages - Würzburg
Wurzburg is in Franken (Franconia). It is central to the wine growing region of Germany and has a number of winemakers, amoung them the Juliusspital. We went there to celebrate our first wedding anniversary in 2007.
**These Green Men were found by a colleague of mine, who was there playing a concerto. She kindly photographed them for me. Many thanks to Claudia Michaelson (Principal Viola, Anhaltische Philharmonie, Dessau.)
Deutschhaus Kirche
Above the main entrance to the church. The church is a small church, quite unassuming, not in the centre of the town

The building dates from 1905-1906. There are Green Men carvings all over it! Green Men are often found on banks, post offices, and other such municipal buildings. They have copied the trend here

Other locations
Dom cloisters. The only Green Man here, but there are some fantastic roof bosses of other images
Juliusspital gardens. The old hospital is now an old peoples home. Over an arch into the central courtyard is this green Man
Karmelliten Str. Above an arch. The name suggests there used to be a nunnery in this location. Perhaps the Green Man remains from that time

Hangerkirchgasse (near the church.) The green Man above this gateway is supporting a carving of a saint and child.**
Vietshoechheim. A small picturesque village a short distance from Wuerzburg. A stately home and Rococo style gardens can be found there. This Green Man is on the front face of the house
